CCT Global Communications Celebrates 25 Years
CT Global Communications is proud to announce the celebration of 25 years serving the BVI. The company first opened its doors in April 1986 as CCT Boatphone by the wisdom of a group of pioneer telecom entrepreneurs. As the first mobile operator in the Caribbean, CCT paved the way, revolutionising the mobile industry. In 2005, the company re-branded as CCT Global Communications; however, much of the older community still refer to the company as Boatphone.
The CCT journey began with the opening of the Boat Phone store, then situated at the Mill Mall. With a workforce of only eight employees, the company tailored services mainly to the marine industry, hence the name Boatphone. The firm later moved into mobile telecommunications, forging ahead with its TDMA network by 2000. In 2005, CCT proudly launched its GSM network and moved to the new store, currently at Geneva Place. CCT now employs over 40 staff, 85% of them locals, something that few BVI companies can match. Many of the employees have been with the company for over 10 years and some an impressive 25 years.
By 2007, CCT decided to make a move into the wireless data market with the launch of the BVI's first mobile internet service, CCTnet, offering unlimited mobile internet throughout the BVI. A further expansion happened in 2008 when CCT launched the BVI's first Wimax network, CCTmax, offering customers broadband internet without the need for phone lines and cables. CCT has continued to focus on the wireless industry, offering communication solutions without the restriction of cables. In December 2008, the company revolutionized the BVI market, launching the BVI's first unlimited calling plans which offer unprecedented value to customers. Today, CCT is the only cellular company in the BVI selling the iPhone and other state-of-the-art smart phones.
General Manager, Jose Luis Fernandez commented on this milestone achievement of 25 years: "Operating successfully in the telecommunications market for 25 years is no easy feat. Much of CCT's success should be accredited to its employees. Over the years, CCT has employed a number of talented and innovative individuals who, with key expertise, have pushed the company forward. For this, we are grateful. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal customers, many of whom have been with us for some twenty five years. We would like to thank all of our customers for their patronage; without them we would not have reached this impressive milestone."
CCT will kick start celebrations at its Road Town store on Monday, April 18 with celebratory cakes and refreshments for customers. In addition to this, customers can also benefit from free local text messages from 9am to 9pm on Monday, April 18. Customers are also urged to continue stopping by the store on Mondays to redeem their $20 double top up coupons, printed out on the back of their purchase receipts from Rite Way and Bobby's supermarkets. 25th Anniversary Celebrations will continue over the next 12 months, so keep a look out for more exciting promotions coming soon!
